JEWELLERY CARE

Here at CNDI we use high quality plating on our jewellery that is water resistant. All of our jewellery is nickel, lead and cadmium free. Gold/silver plating is a method of covering another type of metal with a thin layer of pure gold/silver by electroplating it. Among the biggest benefits of plated items is the fact that it is fairly strong. It is also very affordable yet looks expensive.

With that said, fashion jewellery (including plated, 925 Sterling Silver and expensive jewellery brands) can experience normal wear and tear like this over time. It is natural for gold and silver plated jewellery to lose their colour over time due to the exposure to different chemicals. To extend the life of your jewellery, here are some tips:

✧  Keep away from harsh chemicals/soaps/perfume/oils/moisture and humidity

✧  Keep them in your CNDI dust bag when not in use

✧  Frequently clean your pieces with a soft polishing cloth

✧  Be gentle with your pieces as they are delicate by nature

✧  Give your jewellery occasional breaks

How to clean your jewellery

✧ Use warm water and mild soap or vinegar rinse

✧ Polish chain with a soft cloth or polishing cloth

✧ Always dry the jewelry before storing

What is cubic zirconia? How sparkly is your jewellery?

What is cubic zirconia?

Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is the ultimate diamond alternative with many of the same qualities. CZ mimics a diamond however is beautiful in its own right, producing more flashes of colour & shine (known as fire) than a diamond.

CZ is in fact heavier than a diamond of the same size and due to its incredible visual similarities is often misrepresented as a pure diamond.

How sparkly is your crystal / cubic zirconia jewellery?

For our standard range, we use AAA cubic zirconia which is great for fashion jewellery and have a lot of luster and shine.

Does CZ shine in the dark?

No, there needs to be a light source for CZ to shine, just like real diamonds need a light source for it to shine. Depending on the cut, they will shine in low light (such as the brilliant round cut).

Tip: When you receive your jewellery, turn on your lights, go outside if it is bright or shine your phone torch on it to see how amazingly sparkly they are! ✧

Green Finger

Traces of copper will be found in Gold/Rose Gold plating as this contributes to the colouring of the metal. In some extreme cases of sensitive, highly acidic skin, you may experience some slight greening. The other main cause of oxidisation is chemicals found in hand creams.

Contrary to popular belief, the ring of skin that turns green underneath a piece of jewellery doesn’t occur due to the poor quality of the ring, nor is it harmful. It is a perfectly normal and rare response to certain materials within the jewellery. It can appear when wearing fine expensive jewellery just as much as with more affordable options.

If you are allergic or sensitive to metals or have had green tainting before then you are likely to experience the same reaction. Those that are sensitive to metals should not purchase copper/brass based jewellery and instead opt for our Stainless Steel jewellery.

We take no responsibility or liability for any reactions that may take place; It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all precautions are taken as we are unable to know each individual's allergies and sensitivities.
